APS12804O-SQRHX-SN is a 128Mbit QSPI PSRAM from AP Memory Technology, housed in a compact SOP-8 package. As a member of AP Memory's IoTRAM™ series, it gives MCU-based designs a simple, low-cost way to extend off-chip RAM without changing the existing hardware architecture.
The APS12804O-SQRHX-SN is a pseudo static RAM (PSRAM) offering 128Mbit (16MB) of storage. It supports two communication modes — SPI (x1) and QPI (x4) — and powers up in SPI mode by default. Its pinout, commands and timing are highly compatible with standard QSPI Flash, so existing QSPI Flash hardware and driver logic can be reused with minimal adaptation. This makes it an ideal external memory expansion device for microcontrollers whose built-in SRAM is insufficient.

QSPI Flash compatible design. Pins, command timing and behavior closely match QSPI Flash, so engineers can drop in RAM expansion without a major board redesign — only minor firmware adaptation is needed.
Minimal-pin, low-BOM solution. The SOP-8 package occupies very few I/O resources and little PCB area, reducing overall bill-of-materials cost compared with parallel DRAM or SRAM solutions.
Low power operation. A single 1.8V supply (1.62V–1.98V) and excellent standby power make the chip well suited to battery-powered IoT terminals.
Industrial temperature range. Stable operation from -40°C to +85°C supports industrial control and outdoor smart hardware.
Flexible byte addressing. Byte-addressable, freely readable and writable, with continuous-read/continuous-write support — well matched to audio/video frame buffering and bulk sensor data staging.
Image frame buffering in camera modules and display systems
Audio buffering in voice terminals
Storage of large variables and temporary data exchange in MCU systems
IoT edge devices, smart meters, tracking devices and wearables
Industrial control and outdoor intelligent hardware
Is the APS12804O SRAM or DRAM?
It is a PSRAM — pseudo static RAM. Internally DRAM-based, it integrates a self-refresh controller so the interface behaves like SRAM, combining DRAM density with SRAM simplicity.
What is the difference between SPI and QPI mode?
SPI mode uses one data line (x1) and is the power-up default; QPI mode uses four data lines (x4) for up to four times the bandwidth. The mode can be switched by command.
Can it directly replace QSPI Flash on my board?
In most cases yes — the pinout and command set are QSPI Flash compatible, so hardware typically requires no changes and only driver-level adaptation is needed.
