MPS Buck Chip Empowers High-Efficiency Voltage Regulation for Automotive ADAS Systems

With the rapid advancement of automotive intelligence, the power management requirements for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) have become increasingly stringent. Mainstream hardware solutions must balance high efficiency, reliability, and compact design. Buck converters, with their efficient voltage conversion, stable output, and low-noise characteristics, have emerged as an ideal power source for core ADAS modules such as sensors and domain controllers. Their wide input voltage range (e.g., 4V–36V) allows direct connection to the vehicle battery, simplifying front-end design, while high-frequency switching reduces the footprint of peripheral components, supporting system miniaturization.

In automotive ADAS applications, the 4V Buck chip’s core value lies in its precise voltage regulation and dynamic response capabilities. Taking the MPS MP4423GQ as an example, this chip supports a wide input range of 4V to 30V, with transient voltage tolerance up to 36V, enabling it to withstand low-voltage surges during cold starts and high-voltage load drops. With a continuous output current of 3A and peak efficiency exceeding 95%, it delivers clean and stable low-voltage power to millimeter-wave radar, camera modules, and AI processors, ensuring real-time image transmission and data processing. Built-in overcurrent, overtemperature, and undervoltage lockout (UVLO) protection mechanisms further enhance system robustness in extreme environments.

The MPS MP4423GQ is an AEC-Q100-certified automotive-grade synchronous Buck converter. It adopts a compact 3mm×3mm QFN package and integrates a 55mΩ low-on-resistance MOSFET, significantly reducing switching losses and thermal dissipation. The chip supports a default switching frequency of 410kHz (externally synchronizable up to 2.2MHz) and employs frequency spread spectrum technology to effectively suppress EMI interference, complying with the CISPR25 automotive EMC standard. Its Power Good (PG) signal function monitors the output status in real-time, while the soft-start mechanism avoids inrush current spikes. In ADAS domain controllers, the MP4423GQ can power multi-core SoCs and sensor interfaces, and dynamically adjust voltage via the I²C interface to adapt to varying load efficiency requirements.
